Resizing Java™ games to fit your screen

Post by gergo on Wed Jan 13, 2010 3:55 pm

Here’s the step by step guide on how to resize Java™ games (.jar):

Extract the .jar file, it will then reveal a bunch of files and some folders; look for the META-INF folder.

Upon opening the META-INF folder, you will see a MANIFEST.MF File. This file contains the important details of the game like Version, Midlet Names, etc. Do not modify the details written here.

Open MANIFEST.MF using notepad.

At the very bottom of the MANIFEST.MF, key in the following:

Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size: orig. width,orig. height
Nokia-MIDlet-Target-Display-Size: target width,target height

This is an example of resizing game

Here it is:

Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size: 352,416
Nokia-MIDlet-Target-Display-Size: 240,320

Note: the “Original display size” refers to the initial and current size of the game prior to resizing, and the “Target Display size” refers to screen resolution that you would want your game to be resized to.

Save the edited MANIFEST.MF file.

Open the .jar file using WinRAR, then drag the edited MANIFEST.MF to the META-INF folder in the .jar file via the application.

Would work in 50% of the cases!! But for me works very well with all kind of games... I written 50% because newer know if got some problem.

You have just resized your Java™ game, ready to be played compatible with your own phone’s resolution.

And here is a jar. resizer to : Download here.

Good luck! Hope you Enjoy.
