In this situation, is heart bypass surgery the way to go?

Post by Guest on Thu Mar 17, 2011 5:48 am

Hi,

My gran has recently been rushed to hospital & diagnosed with Unstable angina. They carried out a angiogram & as a result, fitted a double stent in a 'larger' blocked artery, which was quite bad apparently. She also has several, much smaller blockages.

The problem is, she is terrified of surgery, so she automatically said no to a bypass.

I understand unstable angina without a bypass can be quite dangerous. I'd like to be able to explain this to her, but I don't know that much about it.

Is it really important that she has the surgery?
